Business Networking Meeting - Family Trauma for Dummies

'10 Minute Tip' by Michael Hallett - Family Trauma Expert - 7am until 9:30am

Michael Hallett is a former business analyst at the HJ Heinz factory in New Zealand. He was designing factory software for producing baked beans and other foodstuffs.

Michael then became an IT consultant in America until he was deeply affected by inherited trauma. Michael used his analysis skills to uncover and recover from his own buried family traumas.

These issues are now gaining greater attention. Michael is the creator of "Living With Ghosts".  This is the first online course in the world on recognising and releasing family trauma.

Michael works well with people who are interested in genealogy.

About the conversation:

Family Trauma for Dummies

This may seem like a strange subject for a business networking club. The Business Growth Club is a very free flowing discussion based group and emotional topics like this bring out some fabulous business insights.

Michael Hallett says that generational trauma affects many families, usually without being recognised or treated. You or someone in your family may have noticed recurring destructive patterns over generations but not had the awareness to respond to it.

Michael believes that:

1. Many families carry unidentified traumas from the World Wars, divorces, scandals, and other emotional shocks.

2.Family traumas are experiences of emotional overwhelm that are frozen in time. They can be experienced as shame, sorrow, depression, grief, or ‘stuckness’ – an inability to be fully present to life.

3.Identifying inherited trauma is hard due to the generational gap between who experienced the original trauma and who unconsciously manifests its symptoms.

4.Family trauma may sound vague. It’s actually very process-oriented and can be identified not only through therapy but using business process analysis tools.
