About the conversation:
Learn to step outside your comfort zone with control
The world around you and your business or organisation is continuously changing. If you don’t change the way you’ve always done things in your business or organisation it will suffer and may fail. If, like a dinosaur, you won’t change, your business or organisation may become extinct.
Remember Albert Einstein’s definition of insanity “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result” If what you’re doing now is not growing your business or organisation, continuing to do what you’ve always done will not improve your results. The only way to improve your business or organisation is to start doing things differently now!It sounds obvious but so many business owners and leaders don’t feel comfortable making the changes they can clearly see they need. You may imagine that doing something different will be really scary because it’s outside your comfort zone. This may be because you feel you don’t know what to do or how to do it. You may also feel you’re not very good at changing.
You may also be worried about your changes failing which is a real risk. As long as you take time to reflect you'll learn something really useful from that failure.
Choosing to step out of your comfort zone won’t be scary if you do your research and take good advice. There are always things you can do to mitigate your risks.
Setting up or buying your business was probably the scariest thing you’ve ever done. At the time, it was probably well outside your comfort zone. So, you know you’ve done at least once before and it didn’t kill you. That means you know you can do it again.
Remember, you can control exactly how far you go outside your comfort zone. It’s often really exciting to do something different when you know you have an element of control. It gives you a real challenge and when you’ve done it once your confidence will grow.
